At what age can my child begin gymnastics?
Classes are available for all ages, beginning with Parent & Tot at 12 months and continuing through high school.
Do you have trial classes?
Yes, we offer trial classes provided there is an opening in the class. You must register for the trial directly with the office. If you schedule a trial class and don’t show up, your account will be charged a $15 fee.
If you decide to continue, it is your responsibility to contact the office to confirm permanent registration. We will hold your spot for two days following the trial. If we don’t hear from you within that time, your child will be dropped from the class.
What happens when my child ages out of a class?
Our Parent & Tot, Preschool, and Kindergarten programs are age-based. If your child has a birthday during the current session, you may choose to keep them in their current class or move them into the new age-appropriate class.
Our school-age classes are skill-based rather than age-based. Advancement to the next level requires passing a skill evaluation, not simply getting older.
Middle School and High School classes are combined and open to all girls in 6th–12th grade.
Do I have to stay to watch my child?
-
Children aged 5 and under: Parents are required to stay in the building during class.
-
Children aged 6 and older: May be left unattended as long as they can use the restroom independently.
When registering, please be sure to include your cell phone number in your file so we can reach you promptly in the event of an emergency.
What happens if I am waitlisted for a class?
- If a class is full, please add your child to the waitlist (or multiple waitlists that fit your schedule).
-
We check waitlists daily and will contact you via email if a spot becomes available.
-
You will have 48 hours to respond. After that, we will offer the spot to the next child on the list.
-
Waitlist contact ends in early May for each School Year Session
What happens if my class is canceled?
We reserve the right to change the schedule or cancel a class due to low registration. If this occurs, we will make every effort to accommodate your child in another class, but this cannot be guaranteed.
In the event of a cancellation due to weather, there will be no make-up classes or account credits.
For cancellations due to coach absence or an unplanned building emergency, we will provide a make-up opportunity whenever possible. If a make-up cannot be scheduled, we may offer an account credit.
What happens if I miss a class?
We typically offer make-up classes on the last Saturday of each month. If a scheduled make-up falls during a planned closure, it will be held the week prior. Registration is required through the office. Please note that we do not offer credit or refunds for missed classes.
How early can I drop my kid off before class and what happens if I am late picking up?
-
Children may not be dropped off earlier than five minutes before their scheduled class and must be picked up within five minutes after the class ends.
-
If you arrive more than five minutes late, a $25 late fee will be charged. We appreciate if you call ahead to let us know you’ll be late.
-
After the initial $25, if pickup exceeds ten minutes, an additional $1 per minute will be applied.
-
Continuous late pickups may result in immediate withdrawal from the class.
Reminder : Parents of children 5 years old and younger are required to remain in the building during class.
Do you give progress reports?
Academy Classes will receive two progress reports throughout the school year.
Preschool classes will receive periodic progress reports and skill checks throughout.
Parent/Tot, Adaptive, and Jr./Sr. High School classes do not receive progress reports.
If you have questions about your child’s progress, please speak with their coach or schedule an evaluation through the front office.
How do I know when my child is ready to move to the next level?
Up until age 6, classes are age-based, so they move up according to their birthdate.
You’re welcome to schedule a skill evaluation with the office or ask your child’s coach for their recommendation.
What do I do if my child is interested in our competitive programs?
Tryouts for our team programs are typically held in the spring. If you’d like, we can add your name to our interest list.
In some cases, a coach may make a recommendation and either your coach or a Team Coach will contact you with details.
What do games have to do with gymnastics?
Most games incorporate gymnastic elements that support the development of motor and cognitive skills, analytical thinking, language and logic, creativity, spatial awareness, visual imagination, and emotional growth. Games also encourage social interaction and help children see the world from different perspectives.
By playing games, children practice decision-making and learn to assess their environment—skills that are essential not only in gymnastics, but in real-life situations as well.
Why do they do the same things every week?
Repetition provides the opportunity for practice and reinforcement
Repetition is needed for skill mastery and success
Through repetition of movement, coordination is improved
Through repetition, children develop the confidence to progress
Children learn self-discipline and critical reflection through repetition
At this age, repetition is important.
In gymnastics, repetition is imperative.
Why doesn't my child get to every event each week?
We operate on a 4-week rotation. Our gym is shared among multiple classes, the Ninja program, and our competitive team. While we aim to cover most events each week, the schedule may not allow us to touch every event every class.
To help, we can incorporate balance stations on the floor to support beam skills or strength stations on the beam to support bars. Overall, gymnastics is a full-body workout, and we have the flexibility to implement skills throughout the gym.
